Kindness Online? Here's How Digital Media Professionals Make it Happen.
Digital marketers, creators, and other web-warriors are usually creative by nature, and compassionate by choice. They know keeping up with kindness beyond the trends is key to thriving in an often 'always-on' profession. The ZOA Energy team surveyed digital media professionals across our community to gain insight on what they believe #KindnessCan do. Here’s what they had to say:
How do you show kindness to yourself?
“By looking in the mirror and giving myself positive affirmations.” - Amanda R. (Las Vegas)
“Making time to take breaks and go for walks, even when I’m busy.” - Julia B. (Colorado Springs)
“To show kindness to myself and body I recently started going to the gym again and doing yoga. Knowing that I am taking care of myself makes me feel better.” - Vanessa M. (San Diego)
“Exercise! I'm an avid cyclist and there's nothing more motivating and refreshing than a hard ride.” - Cam S. (Texarkana)
“Sleep, communication, comfort.” Olivia W. (San Luis Obispo)
The passionate players who work in digital media embrace mental and physical health when it comes to personal kindness. They stay positive, love to exercise inside and outside the gym, and take time to rest when they need it. Creatives know the value of giving their brain a good break, and they’re energized to make it happen.
What's the best way someone can show kindness to you?
“Empathize and talk to me.” - Mark L. (Los Angeles)
“Reminding me that I’m doing enough. :)” - Kelsea W. (Pismo Beach)
“Making time to check on me and see how I'm feeling. Asking about my day and meaning it.” - Georgio M. (Shreveport)
“Kind words and a warm hug.” - Jamie L. (Los Osos)
“Just being there lifting me up or making me laugh.” - Matthew B. (Crown Point)
Content creators want to be heard and seen outside of their work, too. They appreciate empathy most of all and value when people take the time to check in with them and listen to their thoughts. They love a good laugh, and sharing conversations that happen off of their screens.
In what ways do you choose to share kindness with others?
“Give them my time, attention.” - Tim W. (St. Helens)
“Say thank you, always! Prop people up as much as possible. Listen more than you talk.” - Kay-Kay C. (San Luis Obispo)
“Let them know they have my ear. Wanna talk? I'm down. Need advice? I can do that. Just want to vent? I'm your man.” - Cam S. (Texarkana)
“I empower people to do the things they didn’t know they could. I try to highlight people when they need to be showcased for the most positive benefit.” - Andrew A. (Sun Valley)
“Telling the people I love that I love them and I’m available to help if they ever need it.” - Julia B. (Colorado Springs)
Digital media professionals prefer to spread a little kindness with their words or by lending a listening ear. They treat others how they would want to be treated and want to give their time and attention to the people who need it most. Often artists, they strive to empower others however they can and utilize their skills to promote the spirit of compassion.
