As the world gets ready to celebrate #WorldKindnessDay on November 13th—it’s hard to imagine an everyday warrior that deserves a shout out more than the passionate and dedicated healthcare workers who've been working hard to keep us healthy. They know that compassion for others is what binds us together, and they’re using that power for good.
Here at ZOA Energy, we’re always interested in learning what #KindnessCan do. We’re big on listening to our fans and community—so we reached out to healthcare workers around the globe to learn what kindness means to them. Here’s what they had to say:
How do you show kindness to yourself?
“By taking precautionary measures, eating right, exercising regularly. What helps me is being inspired by the people who depend on & care for me.” - Anna A. (Hercules)
Stay positive, no negativity, have empathy, and always be humble.” - Elena A. (San Jose)
“I show kindness to myself by making sure I take time for my workouts and for self-improvement.” - Adrian F. (Reno)
“My job being a doctor means I need patients to trust me to be able to share what is wrong with them. My life mantra is to remain humble as life is too short and there is enough hatred out there and not enough kindness and support.” - Alok K. (London)
“Helping others is what keeps me going.” - Adam R. (Lexington)
Healthcare workers know they have to take care of themselves before they can take care of others. They do this through exercising, eating well, being mindful, and staying focused on the positive. Passion is at the core of what they do—and supporting others keeps them energized and feeling kind.
What's the best way someone can show kindness to you?
"Just being there to listen.” - Katelynn R. (Campbell)
“Simply checking in with me and talking as a friend.” - Susan D. (Gettysburg)
“A thank you.” - Ryan K. (Aurora)
“A simple compliment or even something as easy as thanking someone for being in your life.” - Stephen D. (Manalapan)
“The kindness associated with having a good support system in place means everything to me.” - Nick B. (Leland)
Lending an ear is a small act of kindness that can go a long way. Healthcare workers appreciate when people take the time to show up for them and listen. They're grateful for small acts of gratitude, quality time with the people they care about, and a handshake (or a hug) when the time is right.
In what ways do you choose to share kindness with others?
“By always making an effort to be my best self.” - Harriet K. (Oakland)
“I always want to be of service wherever I can. I like to help people, it's a natural instinct.” - Amina E. (Philadelphia)
“Giving a helping hand & always being inclusive to all.” - Mari S. (Hobart)
“I'm blessed in where I work. I am blessed with opportunities to help uplift, serve, and care for people who are having it worse than me. I choose to share by serving and listening to those I work with and for.” - Leonardus C. (Lakewood)
“To listen intently, be open and transparent, to provide support, encouragement, faith, humour, generosity, honesty, truthfulness, forgiveness, and compassion.” - Adam J. (Eastbourne)
The results are in: doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers in our community show kindness by being the best at what they do and spreading wellness. They want to help people be heard and understood so they feel safe and supported. Helping their patients matters most, and they’re truly dedicated serving others.
ZOA Energy wants you to welcome kindness as part of your daily routine—a step above celebrating once a year. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of an act of kindness, you know how wonderful those unexpected gestures can feel. We’re on a mission to provide and inspire more healthy habits around the world as a powerful first step towards supporting the kindness our everyday warriors fight for.
